Question about feeding Sardines

I would like to start feeding Leah sardines. Leah has allergies to yeast and a couple of other things. She is currently receiving shots for the allergies.

Because she is an adopted dog from a bad situation I am still going through the process of determining if there is a food allergy or not. I have had her for 8 months now and she has eaten NB Duck and venison formulas. So far, so good. I need to go back now and challenge the duck. Leah did not start out with a good diet so I had to start from scratch. She seems to handle food well so I don't anticipate a big problem with food.

I feel Leah needs to have more "skin support" and because my vet derm does not care for supplements I thought if I could try it in natural form would be my best bet.

How do I go about feeding it to her? I read many other previous posts and it seems to be that many people feed the fish 1 to 3 times a week. Because I would only feed this to Leah once or twice a week, will I be able to tell if she would allergic to it unlike when you feed something daily you see the reaction quicker? Should I feed her small portions of the can over a couple of days?

Also, I know that if I was to give her a fish oil capsule a vit. E should also be given, do I need to worry about vit. E with feeding the fish versus a capsule?

I know that giving her this fish a couple a times a week may not have the bigger benefits of being able to give her a controlled amount with a capsule, but for now I would like to try the fish feeding and see how it goes.

One more, if I was to try feeding Leah raw eggs in addition are there benefits she would gain to help her skin?

Thanks for any help or advice . I am always looking for ways to improve Leahs conditions.

Just noticed that you haven't gotten any replies here

I am no expert but I'd think that it would be OK to feed sardines a few times a week, and if you see any bad reactions then you can take her back off of it and see how she does. You will still need to supplement vitamin E with sardines. This link has a bit more info on that:

I am not sure what kind of coat benefits you get from feeding egg, but you can definitely try that as well if you want. That same website mentions adding egg to the diet here:

Thanks so much Zoe for answering. I did start the sardines and Leah loves them. I really was unsure about the vit.E but I will start that with the next batch of sardines. I figured I would give her one can a week and give a vit. E at that time.
I will look over the links you provided. I always forget about that website. I have it in my favorites now so I won't forget.
