Question Beef Ears

Hi!!

I have been reading about different treats in the forums. I think it is pretty unanimous that pig ears and raw hide is bad but I haven't really seen anything on Beef ears.

We give Ty one every once and a while and he loves them. My husband and I thought they were good because they didn't have any chemicals on them etc...

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were...

They have the same potential for choking/blockage as any other type of rawhide. Once it is soft from chewing, large pieces can be torn off and swallowed and then can cause problems. Always supervise her with this type of treat, and take it away if it looks like she's close to getting a big chunk of it off.

Raw marrow bones (also called soup bones) are very safe and all natural. A much healthier alternative to rawhide-type chews. And the best part -- they're cheap! Look for them in the meats/freezer section of the grocery store.
