Unhappy Orijen Dog Food

Well with all these recalls which are driving me crazy (and it is a very short trip) I think I am going to try Libby on the Orijen. My question is the amount of protein 40 percent? I have looked at a lot of the old threads where the amount of protein appears to high for a young boxer. Would Libby be considered a puppy at 11 months?

I got a sample bag of the Orijen and she really likes it and it doesn't seem to be bothering her. They are coming out with a new food in June called 6 Fish(?) which as 44 percent protein. Would the Orijen Adult food be okay for a short term use??

I really don't know what else is out there that I can trust. I am taking back a case of Natural Balance "Duck and Potato" as I am getting to worried with the recalls by NB. Libby loved eating the Canidae but I don't think it agreed with her and Molly hates it.

I just know I wouldn't be able to do the BARF as the thought of it makes my DH sick.

I have tried to find some home cooking recipes but not sure if I would be getting the right nutrients that they would need.

Just hope this mess is over soon but, I don't know if I could trust any of the manufacters again.

Sorry this is kinda long but I feel like my head is spinning with all thats going on.

Thanks for listening and maybe any other advice or thoughts would be great.
Jenn

Re: Orijen Dog Food

Hopefully you will get some good advice, which I don't have any to give. My mother just switched their 7 yr old Schnauzer to this food and it looks awesome...6 star rating. We have considered it for our Female who is very senstive..colitis issues, but not sure to switch her from the vet diet. Keep us posted as to how your boxer handles it....

Re: Orijen Dog Food

Once your dog hits 6-9 months old you should switch to adult dog food. Orijen is a great kibble made in Alberta. Our girl loves it. I think the quality and safety is there with this company. Other good foods are Timberwolf Organics, Innova, California Natural, Merrick and Solid Gold.

Question Re: Orijen Dog Food

Libby appears to love it and Molly eventually warmed up to it. So far so good!

Another question, do you give wet food as well as the dry?

She was on the NB Duck and Potato wet which she loved. I am going with my gut feeling and returning all the cat and dog NB today.

It is so hard hearing new recall everyday.

Thanks Jenn

Thumbs up Re: Orijen Dog Food

Titan loves it! It completely agrees with him and we have had no issues at all. Love that they are coming out with a new formula to mix it up a bit.

Re: Orijen Dog Food

We like to give a bit of wet food on top of the dry. We also give a bit of low fat cottage cheese at times. I am not sure if Orijen makes a wet food. There are many good, reliable companies that make wet dog food.

Re: Orijen Dog Food

We had Monkey and our cat Thomas on Orijen and they both love it. Good quality and Canadian made I hear!
