Too much protein???

An "expert" on another site told me that boxers don't need foods with more than 26% protein because protein makes them more hyper. Is this true? All but one of the foods on the 6 Star list on dogfoodanalysis.com have 42% protein and Timberwolf Organics has 36%. Beau is by far one of the calmest boxers I've ever seen. Is there something we should know?

All of the foods with 6-stars are there because they have high meat content and no grains whatsoever. It has nothing to do with the protein content

Your expert is a bit behind the times, I think. It is increasingly accepted now that it is not "high protein" that causes behavioural problems and hyperactivity, but high amounts of carbohydrates and sugars (just the same as for hyperactive human kids, surprise!). The best thing for a hyperactive or aggessive dog (in dietary terms) then, is to ditch the carbs and go for a high quality protein food instead.

The end result is exactly what you're experiencing - a calm and relaxed dog. What more proof do you need? LOL

Elvis's trainer asked me to pull down his eyelid to see if they were red, he said this is a way to check if there is too much protein in their diet, does any know if this is true.
