Introducing a pup and an 11 yr Rott??

Does anybody have any ideas on the best way to introduce a pup (now 11 wks old) and out Rott who is 11 years old. Our rott is very mild mannered and does listen very well. He has sniffed our pup outside (she has an area fenced in so she can go potty). He has growled on occasion..never showing his teeth. Is there a book I could read about this or anyone have ideas...I certainly am not going to just let them be, because of his size, I am worried to do that?

I introduced our 3 month old Boxer to our almost 2 yr old Rottie/Sheperd Mix, i was scared at first because he went to lunge at him, and barked and growled, but by the next morning, they were napping together. We kept the bigger dog locked behind a fence, so they could sniff each other for awhile, then that night we put the Boxer in his kennel, and let the Rottie sniff him.
