Ha Ha Ha... I know that one too; in the very beggining I tried paper - the breeder told me Eliot was paper trained, which he was but was doing the same thing, the important bit being having his nose over the paper. Well, I just insisted on going outside and (hey! hey!) we were lucky enough to succeed! LOL

Do a search on bell training! I read about it here on BW and was skeptical. We tried it and loved it. We brought Bayleigh home at 6 weeks, started bell training at 8 weeks and she picked it up very quickly! We have been accident free for about 5 months now.

I would say between 10 and 11 weeks.. he got it down. I consider myself lucky when it came to potty training.

But, of course, it took alot of time and patience! I also took time off work when he came home.

Chloe has had no accidents since 5 months old and with her being bell trained made it a lot easier..Takes a lot of paitence tho Good Luck
it is ok. i understood what bell training is it is a little early for us though..
Keeroff was newspaper rained until the 3rd vaccination. then, he didnt want to potty outside no matter how much time we spent outside on walks.. :/ so, im teaching him now to potty at the balcony on newspapers. he hasnt accepted it yet though :/ we live at the 4rth floor so, until i take him out he will have forget the bell ring and also.. the reason im taking him out. LOL

LOL dont worry. i read in a book that most puppies when they re about 6-8or 9 months they act as if they havent learnt anything, especially potty training. it is a matter of teenager puppies.. at least that is what the book mentions. im a first time owner so ........... about almost everything LOL

I would say Harlie had it down at about 4-4 1/2 months. We have no accidents at all anymore. Now Chopper is another story, I was in the kitchen and hear this water sound and im looking around like what was that and then here comes chopper all happy. He is finally going to the door when he has to go but we still have accidents.

When Ginger was a pup she was trained to go outside from day one. She had an occasional accident at maybe 2 or 3 months, after that always went outside. She sort of trained us, she would pull her leash off the door everytime she had to go

Smile bell training with wind chimes

My guy Edgar has been completely potty trained at home since he was about 4 months (6 now). I use wind chimes instead of an actual bell. They are inexpenive and easy to find. I just touched his nose to the chimes whenever we went out to potty. When he got bigger, I would hit them with his paw. We never go out to potty (I am trying to teach him to potty on command by using the word whenever I take him out and I want him to go especially just before I go to bed) I took him out when he hit the chimes on his own and if he did his business, I praised and treated. If he just wants to go outside to play (they learn this quick), we come back in immediately. He got the hang of the chimes on his own in about 3 days.
