Muzzles

It's been a while since I've had a dog. Since before everyone started going litigious crazy anyway. I would probably get another German Shepard, if not for Homeowner's Insurance banning them, the way they are perceived, everybody suing everybody else these days, etc...

I am wondering what the view on muzzles is these days? I recently saw a kind that a dog can wear and still bark. I was thinking maybe it would be good for my future Boxer to have one when we're out in public. Are they considered okay or cruel?

Thanks.

the only time that i would recommend the use of a muzzle on a dog would be while giving it medical attention after the dog was hurt in an accident. boxers are very loving dogs and although they can be quite hyper, they are bred to not be vicious or aggressive. a muzzle also gives other people the wrong impression about your dog. if well trained, no dog should require the use of a muzzle.

Thank You, apollosdad. Then I think the impression about Muzzles is the same it was before. I see a man walking two huge Rotties everyday with no muzzles, so I didn't think I needed one either. I just wanted to make sure.
I never once put one on my GSD and I was not happy to think I would have to put one on my Boxer. I was worried I was not being responsible if I didn't, now I feel better. Thanks.
