screen ripping help, please..

Ok guys, we need hints on how to train Otto (6mo old) not to tear thru the door screen... He is a professional . Screens are replaceable but little furbaby feet are not and I'd like to keep them healthy. Our first boxer, Hahns, was also a professional "screen Hoodini" so it seem he is sending Boxer naughty vibes~~~ to Otto from the bridge . My husband could open his own shop for screen repair Thanks in advance everyone

I definately agree with that. I still don't know how to stop our girl from doing it. I will say, she ruined our screen doors more so, when she was a pup. If she sees you outside and you have the door open, she would carry on and scratch like crazy. We replaced numerous times. Now that she is almost 6, she hardly ever does it, if she tries, I just tell her "no" but by then the damage is already done. Hopefully it will get better as Otto gets older.

luckily, we have no screen doors the front and back door are all glass but I still think he may be able to do a little damage after a while. But for now, all we have is puppy paw prints all over the doors. Kinda makes me laugh since my mom would always yell at me for getting hand prints on the door but she doesn't say a thing about the paw prints...........grrrrr

Take the dog on leash to the screen. Immediately have him sit/stay. Then praise and reward. Do it again, and again, and again. Every time you take the dog to the screen, have him sit/stay then when he does, praise and reward.

Every time you see him headed for the screen, watch carefully and as he is almost there, give him the sit/stay command again. Do this consistently and repeatedly until the dog auto-sits when he comes to the screen.

Good luck.

They sell the metal screen protectors, we even got it to fit on the sliding glass door screen, just got one for each side, and if they start to scratch up higher, I will put another set above the lower set....

I hear ya about the nose and paw prints tho! Between them and the muddy paw prints on the kitchen floor, my house is always just messy messy messy!
