Smile I thought my turn would never come. I HAVE A BRAG!!!!

Roge,s recall was never very good and he would only come when he felt like it,so for the last few months iv been working on it just around the house and in the field that surrounds the house.
We go for a 3 mile walk every evening on a country lane with my friend and her terrier and for the last week or so iv been letting Roge off leash for the last 100 yards or so to have a sniff and just to satisfy the general nature of a Boxer which is to stick his nose into everything an anything that takes his fancy so last night just as I unhitched the leash out pops a rabbit from no where and you can all guess the rest yes my boy took off like a bat out of hell after it, my friend said oh God what are you going to do now and to be honest for a second or so I froze then called " Roge no! here boy " with that he stoped dead in his teacks and turned around, now all didnt go to plan he didnt come to me but waited until we caught up with him. My friend knowing what he was like actually had her mouth open in amazement I on the other hand was feeling 10 feet tall I was so so proud of him.
So there,s my brag my crazy mad hatter is turning in to a well behaved boy !!!!!!!!!!.

That is totally awesome. My girl Lacy goes crazy when she sees rabbits and I know she would take off and disregard our "here" command. That is wonderful and a miracle. Good job Roge.

Thanks everyone. I bent down to give Roge a hug and tell him that his Boxer World buddies said he was a very clever boy and I got a big slobbery kiss on my nose so I guess he says thanks.

Good boy Roge! It must have been so hard for him to stop chasing the rabbit.

Way to go Roge! It is a great feeling when they listen when you really don't expect them to.

Thumbs up Nice one. good job

i have the same problem with didde. As a dog trainer said " shes a boxer and shes young so number 1 she aint gonna listen when she dont want to for a year or 2 yet " and number 2 as i young boxer you have to think of her like a great dane. Brain all over the place and full of energy and excitement. but with patience it will all work out in the end

Good boy, Roge. You are developing impulse control. Keep on showing us what a smart boy you are!
