Question Trainer gave advice & not sure about it

Bishop is going through his puppy class now and the trainer said if there are 2 dogs in household then they need to be separated for 72 hrs. She said this needs to be done around time Bishop is 5 months old and the reason being is he will follow the older dog and be more attached to her. When I asked when I take Bishop to be spaded does that count she said no. She also does boarding at her facility so she said we could board Lacy with her as well. I've never heard of this nor have come across this on any of the Boxerworld posts so far. Does anyone know if this is true?

Really?? I have never heard of that either.
I have never separated my dogs, especially as puppies.

Sounds like she just wants to board Lucy.
That is really strange to me.

I have never heard of that either. I would have to wonder about her motives.

I would though make sure that they each get one on one time with you. Train them separately. Take one for a walk and leave the other at home. It is important that they each learn to be by themselves, so that they don't become totally dependent on the other dog.

Good luck!

I've never even remotely heard anything like that. Sounds to me like a way to drum up business for her boarding facility...

Okay, glad to hear feedback my husband and I not sure about the advice what she said; he wasn't willing/skeptical to do that and I was leaning toward doing it just because I want to do everything right with our boxers. Since y'all have never heard of that and you guys know the boxer breed better I feel more comfortable with Boxer owner's responses. Its bad enough he'll have to be away from home when its time for him to be neutered.

I think it's ridiculous advice. Sounds to me like profit hoarding for boarding! LOL

The only advice that should be given is that with two dogs, the neutered one needs to be calm for a few days, no rough play, no jumping, that sort of thing. But to seperate them? SILLY!!!!
