Laser Pointer ALWAYS gets them tired and its THE FUNNIEST THING EVER! Charlie smashes his face into the wall to try and get it. I can't control my laughter and He and Jersey are exhaused after about 10 min.

Well laser pointer requires them to try and catch it. I would say its good for both mental and physical but if you are trying to give him things to try and figure out, then treat balls and those sorts of things will be good. Also, Agility is good. Good luck!

Thumbs up

I agree. Laser pointer is a must. Point it all over and they chase. Up stairs, around objects. Only problem is Zoe is obsessed with it!

More exercise, but I'm not keen on the laser pointer due to the obsessive potential.

Kinnon needs 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day... We do an hour and a half of this at night. I'm not sure how much your guy gets a day with your walker, but 20 minutes probably feels way too short for him at the end of a 12 hour day.

See if you can increase this... Maybe take him out and throw a ball, or at least increase his walking time.

It's hard, and in my experience sometimes impossible to get a young boxer to expend all their energy.... They have a neverending supply!

More exercise can help but I try not to go TOO heavy on exercise; been there, done that, and ended up with a dog that didn't know how to relax and required lots of daily exercise. Kongs and bully sticks are good. I think mental exercise is more effective too, a game of hide and seek tires Juno out more than a walk would. You could do things like hide his dinner around the house. He'll have fun running around looking for it, and using his sniffer to locate it will tire him out.

I agree with Juno about over exercising and not wanting to create a non-relaxing monster dog, but don't feel that 1.5 hours a day is enough to fully wear your pup out if it's on its own during the day and not being stimulated mentally during that time.

My girl is with me all day and has lots of action going on around her, but she still needs 2 1/2 hours. That's our magic amount...

Good luck with your buddy!

wow ~ after reading all the post lately on exercise ... i MUST the LAZIEST boxer EVER !!
Sam plays ( hard ) with our tenants dog most days for about 30 / 40 mins , after that he needs multiple naps ... we only go for walks for training ~ so not alot ground is covered persay ~ but works his mind. He will pull his cart (maybe) a cpl times a week ( but only around a 2 block radius ) must nap after that also ~ & he acts exhausted all the time !! but a cpl weeks agoe , we had 7-8 days of hard rain ~ no play time ~ no cart ~` no walks ... talk about a MONSTER !! lol

I have always liked the "mind" games ! you can even get a wobbler to feed his kibble in ~ he has to work at it to get it out ! great invention for ur fast eaters also !! Also a trip to the store works great also !! I guess its super hard work to get all that petting & kibble !! sam has to nap all day after a trip out !
