Wellness and crystals in kidneys

Has anyone heard anything about this? During my last visit to Petco the checkout clerk told me that her manager's dogs were diagnosed with crystals in their kidneys and the cause was Wellness dog food.

How do they know Wellness is what caused the crystals? I've never heard this before.

i'm pretty sure that would be widespread knowledge.. we use wellness, and stay up to date on any info involving them. sometimes those people just say things without fully knowing the story.

Spanky has urate stones and crystals in his urine but it is something that he was born with, he has had surgery to remove them and he needs low purine foods to keep in it check i have never heard of a food causing it though, rather its the dogs system that cant tolerate the high levels of purine and cant get rid of the acid in urine causing a high ph and crystals and stones to form.

a friend of mine feeds her dog wellness and he has the best medical record of most dogs i know. not to mention the best fur in town.
