Dog Food Recall

Just relaesed today, a voluntary recall on canned or wet dog food sold at walmart, petsmart and other stores. Supposedly the wheat Gluten (yuck) that was purchased from a new supplier was not good. A lot of dogs and cats were suffering from kidney failure or worse death! Food maunufactured for Menu Foods in the US and Canada are affected. Here is a link to the US Federal Durg Association and also check out Iams and Eukanuba's website. i guess an official release from Menu Foods with lot # and brands will be released on Saturday morning.

Boy am I glad I don't feed that nasty stuff!!

Re: Dog Food Recall

There are a lot of different brands affected by this including various Nutro varieities I believe. I don't personally feed any of it but it's good to be aware.

Re: Dog Food Recall

Hobart, yes there are many different brands involved. Here is a link to the list. I could not access it last night. Looks like a long list and Nutro, Nutro Max, and Nutro Natural Choice is on it.

Re: Dog Food Recall

Is it just canned/wet food thats been recalled?

I currently feed Thor Nutro Natural Choice Puppy (Lamb Formula). He never gets the wet stuff--- just dry kibble. But when I saw Nutro on the list I freaked out.... does anyone know more info about the recall?

Re: Dog Food Recall

i sell dog food and we were never contacted about this recall, i have tried to call 800 numbers and thier offices are closed.so just because its the weekend thier gonna let this food sit on shelves..i'm so mad i am off today so i called the store and asked the guy who works today if he had to pull it off the shelves and he hasnt heard anything about it.the only one on the list we have is iams and euk..i think i8'll call my manager and see what he says.i always stood up for the iams co.but always in the back of my head had a feeling things arent what the reps say now its on i will never again stand up for them and i'm gonna talk to my buyer about dropping them...

Re: Dog Food Recall

Just goes to show the extreme problems that can be caused bu poor quality dog foods. I made the horrible msitake of feedning Max Iams for the first 3 years of his life, but have made up for it since. He only eats Timberwolf Organics, Solid Gold, Innova and Natural Balance these days. And the change in him was incredible when I switched him last Spring. Unless these premium dog food manufacturers are being dishonest, this kind of thing would not likely happen with human grade ingredients.
