Exclamation puppy almost choked to death

I woke up this morning to let our 11 week female pup Chloe out to pee, went back inside (we were visiting the inlaws this weekend) and let Chloe play with my inlaw's saint bernard pup. I went back to bed, my wife's mother said she'd watch Chloe, and not two minutes went by until my mother in law ran upstairs where we were and told us Chloe was gasping for breath. I ran downstairs and sure enough Chloe was gasping and choking. While I was trying to find out if something was lodged in her throat she quit breathing. At that point I was wide awake and stuck my fingers down her throat and pulled out a wad of hair from a certain saint bernard. The moral of the story is, shave your long haired dogs. These pups choke so easily, as I found out, so please be extra careful. In the end, she started breathing, I kept a close eye on her, called the vet to double check, and Chloe is doing just fine now.

OMG, how awful for you.
I'm always a bit paranoid about the dogs choking on things as they both chew sticks in the garden and short of digging up all my plants I'm stumped. I HATE them chewing sticks but Lola keeps chewing whole branches off the plants (while I'm at work when mum is watching them, supposedly).
