2 more
My Mia has 2 more new bumps. I am so disappointed. The bumps came and we have been giving them the 3-day rule. We see them & monitor for 3 days, so far lots of insect bites, but these two new bumps have not gone away. I don't know what to think. Again both bumps are on her right side, one is very close (actually right on the scar) from her first surgery. I do trust my vet, and she has been so good to us for the last 13 years, but now I am starting to wonder if I should seek another opinion. We have not seen the vet oncologist for 3 months, but she said the all labs from all her previous surgeries showed clean margins so surely between the two of them we should have been able to catch any metastisizing (sp) of the mast cell tumors? The bumps have been on her for 9 days and show no sign of going away, so we have a vet appointment next week. The vet wants to look before scheduling any surgical removal. Tomorrow will be Miss Mia's 4th birthday. She is such a princess, and I want nothing more than to see her feeling 100%. Has anyone else had such quick recurrence of mast cell tumors before? I wish we could still use PM's, Aimee has not posted much since Mr. B passed on & I know she has a wealth of info with all her trials during Baxter's last years. I just feel like maybe I need to consider other options. I will keep everyone posted.

Hi Dora,
I am so very sorry to hear about Mia and Yes, I am sure that Aimee has many ideas of other options. I will e-mail her and ask her to visit again and see if she can offer any ideas. Hang in there, OK? Deb

Just sent Aimee an e-mail for you, so maybe she'll pop in here soon. Hmmm, let's see where do I even start with the wild ones. We are going to a Boxer Bash at Myrtle Beach the last weekend of this month, soooo since it is Halloweem weekend, I bought them Halloween costumes to wear. Jaimee is a sexy little Hula Girla and Jack will be Superman. The costumes arrived the other day and just for fun, I went ahead and put Jaims in hers and she was sooooo proud...she just pranced and danced in her little grass skirt and kept running from me when I tried to take it off of her....LOL...what a ham, she is!
Also a couple of weeks ago, I had to board them to go on a business trip and the place they are now staying when boarded is a wonderful place called The Bed and Biscuit.... well, they love the place and the owner loves them too...she is experiencing the "never a dull moment syndrome" that J & J always provide. When I went to pick them up, the owner proceeded to tell me that Jaims had a new boyfriend....a younger man...an 18 month of Great Dane!! LOL, well it seems that she and her new friend played all day that Saturday and just had the best time...but the next day, the Dane was not allowed out in the play yard because J & J were out with some of the small dogs and the owner figured the Dane would just be too big, so she kept Jaimee's "love" shut up with his doggie door in. The owner told me that she kept hearing a pounding or banging noise but everytime she went to investigate, it stopped...BUT she said that Jaims was always standing right outside the Dane's doggie door....She then proceeded to tell me that she later heard the little dogs screeching and looked out and saw them scattering like roaches because the Dane was in the yard with them.....Yep, she did it...the noise the owner had been hearing was Jaimee banging and punching and boxing the doggie door until she BROKE it, freeing her new boyfriend!!! What a lady...huh?? She'll bust down the door to get her man out!!! Nope, NEVER a dull moment! djk

Hi Dora,
Fingers and toes and eyes crossed in hopes that this turns out to be nothing. I can understand your anxiety, though. Sending Boxer vibes and hugs to you and Mia from Scrapper and Holly.

I hope this helps
oh mia, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I totally understand how you feel. Our 11 year old Boxer mix had a mast cell tumor grade 1. They removed 1in radius of skin and muscle. Then they did tons of test, and they removed the lympgh nodes. Thankfully they cought it right before it spread. I tell you at first I was so confused and overwhelhmed. The best thing you can do is find out as much information as you can regarding mast cell tumors. Theres alot of information on the net. This way when the doctor explains you can understand.
One thing though be optomistic, if she has a 1st grade tumor that's the better one to have, it's less agressive. And yes it's going to be rough, because they look so sad and yes they look like patches, but if you keep their spirts up they begin to feel a little better.
Just remember that you are the best parent that she could have had and that you made her time here the best, so be there for here in this confusing time. And it will bring you comfort to know that she has had a great life with you.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I also have a BT, Nyah who has just had surgery to remove a Mast Cell Tumor. We're still waiting for the results. I posted her story in this section also. My heart goes out to you and Mia, it's such a helpless scary feeling to know your baby has cancer. I'll keep Mia in my thoughts and prayers. ((Hugs))

Debbie, you have one crazy girl on your hands! I can see her hula skirt swaying with her boxer wiggle! And brother Jack did not stop her from freeing her boyfriend! Come on Jack, you have to be the sensible one for Miss Lovesick Jaime!
Right now Mia & Rocky are in time out. I got up extra early this morning to make pigs-n-blankets for my 7 yr olds soccer team game at 10:00 am. Well Rocky & Mia with the help of Coco Kitty knocked over the tupperware container I was putting them in and all the animals in the house helped themselves. I heard something fall & just KNEW what they had done (was in the bathroom pleading with my 2 yr old to PLEASE pee in the potty!). This guys are gonna make me scream & run for the hills! Even my Lola Kitty who would never lower herself to join the masses for "common" fun & play had a little piggy treat! Thank goodness I had the sense to buy plenty! The time out is self imposed, I yelled like a banshee about the horrible punishments I was going to inflict on them...I think they knew I was 3 seconds away from putting an ad on E-Bay for 4 slightly used trouble making pets! Innocent faces are on for the moment! And yet I still adore them...
Thanks for the vibes guys, Dora
