Exclamation

Maddie just got sprayed by a skunk a little while ago. Have given her a bath in everything I can think of. Any ideas? Also, concerned about her eyes. She was sprayed directly in the face and I immediately rinsed them throughly but she still acts as if they are bothering her. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Thanks, Tina

My parents dog got sprayed constantly....you would think he'd learn. Anyway, the tomato juice deal works great...really takes the smell away. I would not recommend it near her eyes since tomatoes are highly acidic.

Fosters and Smith have a website where you can ask the vet questions such as this. Try it and good luck!

You can buy special shampoos designed to remove skunk odour, but this apparently works just as well and is considerably cheaper:
1 litre 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 t liquid soap

The mix needs to be used right so don't make it in advance.

Good luck,
