Is something wrong????

I have a 17 month old that hasn't went in heat yet. I dont plan on breeding her I want to have her fixed but everyone says you should let them go in heat once before you do that so that's why i haven't done that yet. Im only worried that something my be wrong with her. Has anyone had this happen to their pet? I just didn't know if this was normal. I see were alot of people say at 6&8 months their dog has. She is the only female i've ever had so im new to being a female dog mom i guess lol. Thanks for any help.

My girl went into heat around a week before her 2nd birthday. Not extremely common that it is that late, but not unheard of either. One reason I waited to spay her is the same reason you are. After doing the research, I have learned it is just a myth. Go get your girl spayed. Don't wait. I waited with both my girls. The first one had her 1st cycle almost on her 6 mo birthday. She ended up with a false pregnancy and that can lead to lots of other issues. So she was in having hers within a day of going to the vet for that. Plus the longer you wait the bigger she gets and the more it will cost you.

Thanks so much. Im going to call Monday and go ahead and get her scheduled to get spayed. I dont want anything to go wrong for her so ill go ahead and get it done thanks again :-)
