Holy Moly..... I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason. If he hadn't had that surgery he would have been so sick by now.
Hoping that the meds do their thing and Thor is back to normal real soon. Great news about the tumor.....
Hope you are doing ok now. We keep you guys in our prayers.

Oh Thor, you poor baby I don't blame you for being angry, I would be too! How sad to think he could have been having all kinds of discomfort and the infection since FEB! I hope he recovers quickly. So glad to hear the tumor hasn't grown

Thanks for all the vibes! Thor is doing better today! He doesn't seem to have the need to go as urgently or as often, so the antibiotics (ciproflaxin-sp?) seem to be working well. He is sleeping a bit more, but that is to be expected while fighting an infection. The vet did a complete bood and chem panel and sent me the results. After spending about a hour on the internet looking everything up, it appears everything that is high or low can be attributed to the infection. His BUN is just over normal but all other liver functions are normal.

Good luck! Hope it is nothing serious and happy to hear the tumor has not grown.

Karlyn, I am so glad you weighed in! I was hoping you would as I knew you took Darwin to K-State. Mailing it back seems like a good option. I think I will contact them and see about getting both Arabella and Thor done. Arabella is 5 now I think it might be wise just to get a baseline at this point. I hope you are doing alright, as I know losing Darwin was such a blow. Thanks for your input!

Aw, Thor, you are such a tough guy, hardly complaining when you must have hurt so much. Sending many healing vibes your way, be well.

Sometimes I think our boxer babies are too brave and stoic for their own good. So glad to hear the news about the tumor. Hope his infection clears up quickly. He sure is a fighter.

The vet called today with the result of Thor's bladder stones. They are 95% struvite which is a really high. It appears Thor isn't producing enough acid. The vet wanted to put him on prescription Royal Canin, but the fat content is too high. So now he is doing some research to see if there is a supplement we can give instead of changing his diet. But the good news is it is easily fixed if we can get him something to raise the acidity in his urine. Otherwise he will have to stay on antibiotics.
Another bonus, since Thor is the best patient ever, he is getting a free ultrasound! The vet recently got a new ultrasound machine and they are going to be doing training Friday. Since Thor lays down with out being sedated and lets people poke and prod and only asks that you give him some love he was the vet's first choice. So he will get pretty much a full ultrasound. Including a better look at his tumor, and check to see how his bladder is doing. As well as just an all over look.
In the mean time Thor is feeling much better! When we were in the yard this morning he was running around like a dog 1/2 his age! Arabella was even having trouble keeping up with him!

Thor, you are such a sweet boy! Be sure to soak up as much love as possible during your ultrasound.
As far as getting more acid into his system, would putting apple cider vinegar in his water, or giving him cranberry capsules help?
