Body shaking movements

Hi, my dog Arnie started shaking in his sleep around midnight. It lasted for about a minute and while it lasted, he could not move on his own will. After he stopped shaking, I let him outside for 10-15 minutes to cool off and go to the bathroom. I'm curious as to what would cause this type of reaction as yesterday was a normal day for him of exercise, food, and plenty of water. There were no other negative symptoms like white gums, drooling, frothing at the mouth, urinating, and things of that nature. The feedback provided is much appreciated and Arnie himself gives a BIG thank you!!

Are you sure he wasn't dreaming? Sometimes my boy Thor really gets going in his dreams, and it will take me a while to wake him. Then I always get the "what?" look. He sleeps with me and I have been kicked or had my bed shake because of him dreaming.

I agree with Pam, the first thing I thought of was a dream. Lucy dreams big and I swear there's an earthquake when she has a particularly good one!
