Question Flea Prevention

Hi everyone,
I have a Boxer, Biscuit, and a Boston that I adopted at the end of last year, Tux. They are both on Iverhart for heartworm prevention. When Biscuit was a puppy, she started out with Frontline and was on that for a couple of years. It worked well in the beginning, but the more we used it, the less it seemed to work. In the beginning, It would seem to work well for the entire month, but towards the end, I would see fleas on her after about two weeks, and of course, I couldn't reapply until it was time to again. We switched to advantix and it seemed to work very well and I never had any problems with it. Later on, she had some skin mites so the vet put her on ProMeris. After the first dose, she was extremely lethargic and wouldn't eat. I called the vet, they said it was normal and that she would be back to her old self within 24 hours. The next month after the dose, she was very lethargic again and couldn't seem to walk straight. I called the vet again and they again said this was normal, she would be fine, and that she really needed to take it for her skin condition. The next month, same thing, and this time she vomited as well. She was fine within a few hours, but after that, I just couldn't make myself give it to her any more. Since then, I haven't given any flea prevention. We do spray the yard occasionaly. It is beginning to get warm again outside though and I did see a flea on Tux yesterday. How does everyone feel about flea prevention? Has anyone ever tried Halo Herbal Dip? I was considering it but wasn't sure if it would actually work. I did like Advantix for Biscuit, it seemed to work well for her, but i have never used it on Tux so I'm not sure how he would react to it. Has anyone ever had a bad reaction from Advantix? I know it is a little different now, I see that it is now called K9 Advantix II. Any opinions are appreciated. There are no children in the home, so that is not an issue. Thanks

I use K9 Advantix II on our boxer, Sable and have't had any problems at all. I like it because it helps with so many different things; not just fleas.

I use Pet Armor, it's worked really well with Toby and it has the same ingredients as Frontline. It kills fleas, ticks, chewing lice and ticks that carry lyme disease. It was recomended by our vet. Good luck

I use Trifexis. Heartworm, flea/tick prevention and worms all in one pill. Love it.
