Is Melatonin the same as Valerian

HI all .
I was on the lookout today to buy melatonin to give Roge to treat seasional flank alopecia, I was informed but an assistant in the health food shop that melatonin can not be bought within Europe and she advised me that valerian would be the next best thing. So I was just wondering if anyone out there has used valerian if so do you think it would be any help with the SFA.

I haven't dealt with seasional flank alopecia, or even heard of valerien. I did find this site that has some info on valerian for dogs. I hope it helps.

I recall someone having success with Evening Primrose Oil. Maybe that would be available in Ireland.

Yes I actually take that myself. I have spent the morning online searching for advise and came across that info ,im going to start him on it this evening.

That is exactly the info I was looking for as I dont seem to be able to find it in canine form and the site gives great info on the correct dosing when giving the human preparation to dogs, I think i,ll give it a try along with the primrose oil but I will ask at the store if its safe to do so tho I cant imagine that there should be a problem seeing that they are both natural substances.
