Aw man. I'm so sorry.

Just take it one day at a time. As long as they're happy and hungry then it's good.

Take care of yourself as well.

*hugs*

I think Trucker's tumor has already grown back. I was feeling around and it feels almost the same as prior to the surgery. He is not limping like he was but I feel a similar egg shaped mass. He still has the stitches (its only been 8days) so I'd like to think its just scar tissue or something but it feels exactly the same. WTF? I knew that it would eventually come back but this seems ridiculous.

Ive been trying to do some research on spindle cell tumors but it seems that is a generic term for a lot of things. I am going to stop by the vets office and get a copy of the pathology report to see if I can get more info.

No kidding. It sucks for us & Trucker and with the xrays, blood work, & lab report the surgery was 2000.00. What a waste of money too. I cant believe this. What sort of monster tumor grows THAT fast? I'm starting to freak out a little.

Could it possibly just be fluid build up in the "empty" area where the tumor used to be? Maybe your vet could drain it?

So sorry about all this ... so crappy.

Thank you all. We have an appt on Monday to have his stitches removed and discuss further treatment/ options. I picked up the pathology report and it said

"...the submitted mass is a high-grade (grade 3) spindle cell sarcoma that most closely resembles a fibrosarcoma or a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor and extended to the margins of the examined sections, indicating that it will likely recur locally..."

I did a little research on fibrosarcoma and its a very aggressive type tumor. I found a couple stories online where the tumor grew back in a matter of days. Its also the only soft tissue sarcoma that is likely to spread/ metastasize (usually to the lungs or lymph nodes). This is so heartbreaking. My husband felt it and he agrees that it has already grown back. Its very solid and hard. It doesn't feel like fluid.
