I got to spend about an hour with Thor last night he is still not eating, and being VERY stubborn about taking his meds. He is producing more urine than the fluids he is taking in so they are upping the iv. There is also a small amount of blood in the urine. The are keeping an eye on that. It may have been caused by having to break up whatever the blockage was, or the from the catherter bumping around when he moves. Or it maybe some other unknown reason. They took more blood to check his his levels and we'll get the results this afternoon. I'll be heading out shortly to love on my boy.

I have to say everyone at this clinic has been very nice and very caring. While I was back there I got to watch them in action and they seemed to work like a well choreographed show. Even tho' I was scared for some of the pets back there, they were always calm and upbeat. God bless them all!

Just catching this thread, and Thor will be in my thoughts. Hope they can soon figure out what the problem is.

Good to hear that you're having a pleasant experience with the clinic/staff. I know that can make a world of difference!

Hugs for you and Thor (and Arabella too!)

Got to take Thor for a short walk this morning. Poor guy kept trying to pee the catherter out. He seemed in much better spirits today and he WOOFED DOWN the chicken liver I brought! He still wouldn't eat his regular food, so I went out and bought several different types in hope he'll find something appetizing. I am also going to bring also bring lots more chicken liver! He still has blood in his urine and I haven't gotten the result from his bloodwork yet.

Thor kept eyeing this one cat. Now mind you, where we lived in VA had some ferral cats, and Thor thinks cats are for chasing. I think as far as the cats have been concerned he has been a complete gentleman.

Thanks for keeping us updated on Thor. He seems like he is handling the whole ordeal quite well. I wonder if he does have a kidney infection, probably another few days before the culture results are in. I'm sure Thor's appetite is decreased but sometimes they make you wonder if they are just holding out for something tastier. And I think the fact that he is eyeballing the cat is great news, if he were feeling really poorly he would be ignoring the cat.

Sending lots of kisses to the big guy.

BUN and Creatinine levels are down! appicon

The vet just called and even tho' Thor's levels are still elevated, there are back down to close to where they were on Monday, which is about 1/2 of what they were when he was admitted. He'll still have to stay the weekend but he'll probably be out of ICU. He still has the catherter and is still recieving LOTS of fluids. This is a bit of concern, as well as his liver count is up. Tho' not totally unexpected, if it is some kind of infection. They mentioned leptospirosis, but I doubt that. First it isn't common in our area and since the weather has been rather chilly and his eye was injured we have not been anywhere. I also removed the bird feeders from my yard months ago because there were way too many visiting critters.

He'll probably have the catherter removed over the weekend and they'll make sure the blockage doesn't return. If it does there are several tests they can do, such as injecting dye and following it's progress or using a scope and taking a look thru a camera. Neither sounds like fun to me, but they sound much better than my boy being sick.

Again, THANK YOU for all the prayers, (((vibes))), and ~~wiggles~~ they are working! And PLEASE keep them coming!
