Correct way to eat

So I have heard so many different points of view on which is the best way for a dog to eat (raised bowls or not). I have a six month old puppy and we do not raise her bowl (hopefully that's right). My issue is when she eats out of her bowl she won't stand. She is always sitting in some awkward postition or laying down and it just seems like it would be hard to digest in those positions. I don't want her to be in danger of any problems or anything so I was just wondering if that is ok or not. Also the non raised bowl.

Your pup isn't weird - eating from a comfortable position is very sensible. If you think a little about it, or perhaps think about nature programs you may have watched, you'll probably recall that most carnivores eat lying down Dogs are no exception, even if we're used to them consuming kibble from a standing position - give them some natural food like a hunk of meat that they have to spend time chewing, then the majority will sit/lie down to work on it. I think they're quite well adapted to digest their food this way so I wouldn't be concerned with your puppy doing the same thing, even if it's kibble she's consuming.

Your pup isn't weird. Arabella lays down to eat her food also. When she was younger she would spill her food and they lay down and eat. Thinking back, she probably did this because her head wouldn't fit comfortably over the bowl. To this day, I keep a small throw rug under her bowl so when she decides to now occassionally "spill and eat" I can just pick it up and throw it in the wash.

Is it true that you should not feed them from raised bowls? I was told it was better for them rather then eating from the bowl directly on the floor?

Yes it is true. Feeding from raised bowls increases the risk for bloat.

Your puppy isn't weird at all. My Gus lays down to eat almost every time he eats. I just thought he did that cause he has long legs, LOL. I would just keep feeding her the way you are.
