not sure

Happy New Year everybody...

My Sandy will be 9 years old in June.
She does not have a discharge but is very moist on her privates.
I don't know if I should take her to the vet or not.
She seems to feel great, but she keeps licking herself.

any ideas/suggestions??

thanks in advance!

I'd get her checked out. With age, there could be issues and waiting could be detrimental to her health.

I sure hope it's nothing but an infection. Wishing her and you luck!

Since you are not seeing a discharge perhaps she is experiencing some age related incontinence? The are would be wet and its not out of the realm of possibilities that she would want to clean that area more frequently.
At any rate a vet visit seems to be the best way to determine the cause.

Is Sandy spayed or intact? If the latter, then I'd be worried about the possibility of pyometra (uterine infection that can be very serious, even life-threatening) and getting her to a vet would be an *immediate* priority.

If she's spayed though, then pyometra is not a possibility. I would still go with the vet visit, but just not with the same sense of emergency about it.

Sandy was spayed when she was a puppy and has always been really healthy.
I have been very lucky with her... especially since she was a stray.

I will call my vet and get her checked out.

Thanks!!
