Update on Gus
I haven't been on in a while, so I wanted to update everyone on Gus. He is doing pretty good. He still has his bad days, and they don't know what that is about. He has days where he wont eat and is lethargic and he doesn't like his face touched, and then he is fine the next day. Today is one of those days, and he threw up a lot of bile I hope he feels better tomorrow. His ALT is down to 763. YEAH! It was down around there a few months ago, but then went back up to 1200. The holistic vet we were going to told me to give him Zinc with his regular med, the Cuprimine. That's when it went back up. I read that you cannot do both at once, that the zinc makes the other med not work! So, I asked my regular vet, and he looked it up and found that too. So, I took him off the zinc and it went from 1200 to 763 in 6 weeks. He gets it checked again in 6 weeks. We are hoping it will be down around 200 or 300 soon, and then he can go off the Cuprimine, and take the Zinc only, to keep it down. 200 or 300 is high, but way better than the 3100 it was at one time. I hope he can get off the Cuprimine soon because Im sure thats what is making his tummy hurt (and it's super expensive). I talked to another vet, and she said that we may never have his disease under control I try to be optimisitic as much as I can. She said they don't know much about the copper storage disease, and Gus is such an atypical case since he's a boxer, not a breed known for the disease. So, please keep those positive vibes coming his way, he could really use them, especially today! I hope his tummy feels better tomorrow. Izzy is enjoying his food and cookies, LOL. I will post pictures of them both tomorrow.

Sarah, I was gone for quite a while and when I returned one of the first things I did was to look for a recent post concerning Gus. I was glad to see today's update on Gus, but sad to see that he is not feeling well. You are such a good mom. Gus couldn't be in a more loving home. Roxy and I are sending lots and lots of feel better positive Vibes to Gus................ and (((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to you and Izzy

This is the first I hear about Gus... definitely sending the {{{{{{{V}}}}}}}} to poor Gus. It really is stressful when your boxer has bad health days. I sure hope he starts to get this under control. Good luck!!!!

I was wondering how Gus was doing too. I'm glad to hear that his numbers are getting better, but sorry to hear that his tummy's not feeling well. Sending hugs and positive vibes his way. Rolen sends kisses to both Gus and Izzy.

I too have been wondering and worried about Gus. I am so glad to hear that his numbers are back to heading down. I sure hope that in 6 weeks they are down again. As always sending many healing vibes to Mr Gus and lots of wiggles and kisses from Cody and Aniah to both Gus and Izzy.

I missed hearing about Gus and Izzy, glad you're back and very glad to hear that Gus is feeling better (ok well not yesterday). I'll be sending good vibes to your part of Ohio and hoping that he feels better very soon.
