Hollys Grinding Teeth

Hello,
Holly is my fabulous, brilliant, wonderful four year old brindle bitch Boxer.
In the last few weeks when she is settled for the night she is grinding her teeth. She seems to grind them again and again.
I have very carefully checked her mouth, teeth and gums and can't see anything wrong, or anything stuck in her mouth. She does not seem to be in any discomfort and as soon as I say something to her she stops.
I would welcome any suggestions as to what this might be, could it be something she is doing as matter of habit?
Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks
Boxercox

My Indy started grinding his teeth after he started cancer treatments. I had him checked a couple of times and the only thing the doctors could tell me that maybe it was stress? I hope you find out what is causing it. That is an awful sound...

Ms. Ali's started grinding her for awhile now. It's always when she settles down for the night. It bothers me more than her. Kids sometimes do that too.

I consulted my vet after my cat began grinding his teeth a few years ago and was told that this may be a sign that an animal is in pain. This was well over two years ago and my cat is just fine, but I do still occasionally hear him grinding his teeth when he eats. I hope your girl is okay.

Roxy started grinding her teeth this past summer but only when she is settling down for the night. It is a terrible sound .

Looking back, I believe it started when my oldest left for college, a short time later my twins left for college and the grinding got even worse. The last month it seemed to lessen. The kids all came home last weekend to attend a family wedding, one day later they left, and the grinding this week is terrible once again. Thank goodness it is only at night as she settles in.
