itching rash under chin/neck

Penny is a 7 month white female boxer that has developed a rash under her neck and chin. She has been itching at it and rubbed spots of her hair off. I dont think its an allergy because shes been on the same solid gold food for about 3 months now, unless shes allergic to something shes not eating. i originally thought her collar was the cause but ive switched from nylon to leather to metal and now she rarely even wears one. Her food bowls are metal however they did sit in a plastic container to raise them up until a few days ago i read on here how raising the bowls actually increases risk of bloat. Im skeptical to think that the plastic was the cause however because she is also beginning to rub a spot between her eyes now. i have uploaded a few pictures of the rash and was wondering if you think the food bowl was the cause or this warrants a trip to the vet. thanks for your input, sorry for the length.

I'm not sure what that is, but I think I'd have your vet look at it. Penny is beautiful by the way!

She is adorable...
I am guessing it is something in the garden. Check out the wandering Jew family of plants on the internet & see if you have anything similar to the images in your garden at home or which she is in contact with.
Good luck - its so awful to hear them scratching red raw

I'd guess allergy to "something" causing the itching. If she keeps scratching at it and opening the skin it could lead to a secondary infection.
If the skin isn't open I would apply some cortisone type cream to it to help alleviate some of the itching and see if it will self-resolve within a couple of days.
If it is still bothering her after that I would head to the vets office.
Being itchy is just miserable. Could be any number of things causing it.

i know its not advised to regularly bathe boxers, but mine have seasonal and other outdoor allergies,so if my guy rolls around in the grassy fields near my home,i always follow up with a quick bath in the tub,it takes like 5 minutes, and he dries almost as fast, maybe an oatmeal and aloe bath will help the rash or skin problems,if nothing else youll have a fresh smelling dog like mine

thanks for all your responses, since i have removed her plastic bowls i have noticed she has stopped scratching for the most part. i have been applying various medications to the area and some hair is beginning to grow back. so im thinking she is allergic to plastic. if she scratches it raw again i plan on bringing her to the vet. again i appreciate your input.
