Izzy might come home today

I couldn't get on the site last night, so couldn't update until today.

I had a nice THREE hour visit with Izzy last night. I went in a 10:30 and left at 1:30. She drank some water!!!!! She seems to be feeling a bit better. She even ate some baby food off one of the staff members fingers. YAH! They want her to eat more before she comes home so they can monitor how she does with food. We are still waiting on her other bloodwork to come back. I took her some boiled chicken last night and some chicken broth, and she didn't want it. They have a nice big room with a big couch that you can visit your pet in, if they can come out of ICU. They said Izzy was doing well enough she could come off her IV for a visit. Last night, she drank water on her own, so they said I could stay as long as I wanted. I was the only one there for a while, and they have 10 rooms. They are really great there. The vet that was on, she saw Izzy when I brought her in for her knee last week. She came in and Izzy gave her a big hug!!! Then, the vet told her to get on the couch, and she helped her up. The vet laid back and snuggled with Izzy.... she is really nice. She is a young vet, but she seemed to know what she is talking about. All the vets are on the same page there about Izzy and doing everything for her. She told me that Izzy was very social and a very, very good boxer. Everyone keeps commenting on how beautiful she is and how good she is. The vet said she could come in any time to see her. Everyone there loves her, but how could you not???? I think they want to keep her, heheh.
I took Izzy for walks outside during my 2 visits yesterday, and she just loved it. She didn't want to come back in, but I think she was hoping we were leaving, LOL. She pooped orange, but they said it wasn't anything to worry about, but it concerns me. When we came inside, she was back to her silly self. They had one of the "wet floor" signs standing up ,and she kept pushing it with her noise to knock it over, LOL!! She seemed a lot more alert and even wiggled at the staff now. She is probably loving all the attention, though when they go to take her back to ICU, she doesn't want to go. I think she thinks I am there to pick her up when I come visit, which is the hardest part. She has to wear one of those lamp shades around her neck, and she absolutely hates it. She was trying to get her IV out. So, I called today and they said she ate a few more bites. I didn't go to visit today yet because they said she may be able to come home today!!!!!!! I hope she can. Keep all the good vibes coming, they are surely helping my babydoll.

I will keep you posted.

Oh, and Gus does miss his big sis so much. He has been looking all around for her and looks sad and depressed. He sleeps most of the day in my bed. I told him Izzy was at the hospital and they were taking good care of her and he put his big head on my shoulder and I just cried. I try to talk to him about her, but I just cry, even though she is getting better. I told him his big sis might be coming home tonight, and he seems more active today. He misses her so much, and I am sure Izzy misses her snuggles with him. Gus has been getting extra snuggles from me and kisses. It is so weird, he will walk in my room and for a minute, I think it's Izzy. He makes a lot of the same noises she does too. It's so sad and weird to not have her home. At least Gus is still eating. I accidentally put his food in Izzy's spot, and he wouldn't eat it. He normally won't eat her food, or in her spot, unless Izzy tells him it's ok.

Izzy Is Home!!!!!

Yah, my baby is finally home. It has felt like forever, even though it was a little over 2 days. She is doing good. They said that she ate well and ate all 2 oz they would give her at each meal. I am cooking her some chicken and rice right now, so hopefully she will eat for me. The tech that brought her out said she was eating like she was starving and wanted her food when they gave it to her!!! She is so happy to be home. When they brought her in the room to give me discharge instructions, she started to cry and looked at me like "mom, are we finally leaving??". She was pulling me thru the parking lot, LOL!!! She has the kick back in her step and the sparkle in her eyes. Gus was sooooo excited to see her. She wiggled at him too, and she went around and sniffed each kitty. She was sniffing the floor too, maybe to make sure she was home. She then laid in HER spot on the top of the steps. Gus is barking at her now to play and I told him she didn't feel like playing. He is so happy, he is beside himself. He is running around playing with all his toys and shaking them. He hasn't done that since she was at the vet. Izzy is just laying down licking where her IV was and he is barking at her trying to get her to play. Silly boy. Izzy is not quite back to playing yet. She has to eat a bland diet for 5 days and then I can slowly re-introduce her food, very slowly. She is also on 2 medications to coat her tummy. We are still waiting on the pancreatitis test, I think it's called PLI? It takes about a week to get back. Ok, I have to go now to go snuggle with my baby girl!! Thanks again for all the positive vibes and hugs!!!!! I will keep everyone posted on her progress and when we get the test results.

Sounds like there's some celebrating going on at your house! I'm SO happy for you, Izzy and Gus, so glad your sweet girl is feeling a lot better. Gus is acting just like Grunt would when he was deliriously happy! He missed his sis so much, bless his heart.

It's hard waiting on results. I wish there was a quicker way to process the PLI test, as it can be critical to immediate treatment of acute pancreatitis. Thank goodness Izzy responded to the IV fluids and meds, she is hungry and eating....and she is HOME!! Continued healing vibes for Izzy. Please keep us posted on her progress. I bet you are one happy mommy tonight!

I am a very happy mom!!! She is sleeping right now on my bed and I don't want to move her, even though she is in my spot to sleep, lol.

What does it mean if she does have pancreatitis? If she did have it, would she be eating? She is very hungry. I gave her rice and chicken and she wanted more, but I didn't want to overdue it. She is drinking water very well too. She would eat more if I gave it to her. She is skinny, but other than that, looks good. She is sleepy, but that is to be expected. she probably didn't get much sleep in the ICU.
