Please let us know how the phone consultation went. I can't believe so many of our babies are being diagnosed with cancer lately. Maybe that saying "God takes the good ones early" is true with our beloved boxers, too. Sending you and Austin lots of hugs and wet kisses (gentle ones). Stay strong.

I can't say much more than everyone else has but I wish I could reach out and give both you and Austin a big hug. Always remember that our shoulders are here to cry on.

My eyes filled up with tears when I read your post. I know how much Austin means to you and I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I will keep checking the thread for good news from the oncologist. You and Austin will be in my prayers.

I just this minute got off the phone with the oncol. What a super, super nice guy. He totally put my mind as ease. The type of lymphoma Austin has is something called mycosis. It tends to isolate itself to the skin or gums, which is good. He said if he has to have lymphoma this is the best kind to have. It didn't show up in his bloodwork because it isn't advanced! Another great thing! And it doesn't tend to spread to other organs. So, he gave me three options. 1-steroids. They will kill the cells and put him in remission. 2- combine steroids with something called accutane, which is a vitamin A dirivitive. With these two alone he has a 50-50 chance. 3- a chemo drug called CCNU which is given in pill form once every three weeks for six months alone with the pred and accutane. With this he has a 70% chance of living over a year in remission. And the side effects would be minimal. So being the dumb ass that I am I asked him what he suggests. He said to start he suggests using all three to kind of kick this thing into gear and see how it goes from there. I know I was totally against chemo, but I can handle it in pill form. He said he has a much better chance with treatment than without. So I put in a call to my wonderful vet, who I would hug thru the phone if I could, to let him know how it went. I also have to take him to red bank just so the oncol can take a look at him, but it won't be for two weeks because Roberto is going away next week and I can't handle him by myself. The dr. is ok with waiting in his case

It sounds like this is as positive of news you could get. I am glad your mind was somewhat eased. I want you to know that I will be thinking of you and Austin each day and saying special prayers that Austin is able to kick these monster cells in the butt! Take care.
Austin, we are all rooting for you buddy. We know you can beat this thing. Mindy sends you kisses.
