Baby's heart, not so good....
We only adopted Dante a little over a week ago and already we have bad news. She's only 7 months old. She developed some sort of cough with a milky discharge, so we brought her to the vet last week and got an antibiotic and the milky stuff went away. she still had a little cough and an adorable sneeze after that, but it's better now. We took her in today to get a checkup for the cough and they told us that she has a heart murmur that sounds like a 3 but you can feel it which could mean a 6. We are taking her to the cardiologist tomorrow, Valentine's day, so hopefully that will be good for her heart. She has been running around like crazy and is extremely energetic. We keep reading that conditions like this may make her more lethargic. I'm hoping that the cardiologist tells us that she's OK, but we're very upset about this. Any words of wisdom?

I will think good thoughts for your baby-and yes, I think it is good karma to go on Valentines Day A trip to the cardiologist is the best thing you can do for this pup and be positive. I have a boy with heart disease that is doing fine. Get you diagnosis and post it here and we will all be able to support you and your pup. Best of luck-this pup got lucky ending up with you

Re: Baby's heart, not so good....
She had an EKG and they confirmed the murmur. We weren't able to get the other test as the cardiologist didn't make it in due to the weather. But Dante is doing great right now. She has so much energy and wants to run and play and jump around. Some times it's a bit of Dante's Inferno! So as far as we're concerned, she is living a great life and that's the most important part. She doesn't get winded or tired at all. We have to really try to calm her down at night. She just wants to play with her squeak toys! We'll update when she gets the full testing on the 28th. For now, we're just happy that Dante's happy!
