Unhappy Peeing Payton

I am really getting at my whitts end with my little peeing lady. I LOVE Payton to pieces and will take a peeing problem over her back problem any day....but it is getting frustrating. Our new furniture is getting ruined and our house is begining to have a pee smell....YUCK.

She is still peeing when she sleeps. She doesnt pee when she is walking or playing or anything anymore. I have seen a few drips from time to time but she goes out and pees up a storm. She knows when she has to go and will ring the bell if she is awake. I now know her frantic look when she has to go NOW and can't wait anymore.

But what do I do about the peeing when sleeping? She will pee on our furniture and bed and carpet. I thought maybe if we woke up every 2 or 3 hours to let her out it would stop. But it hasn't. Seems sometimes she can sleep for just 30 min and pee. I don't get it. I have had her on phenopropanalimine (sp?) and that hasn't really worked. They are on RAW now so there is less water intake than w/ kibble, but that hasn't helped. I dont want my poor girl to have to wear diapers all the time, and I don't think she will tolerate it either.

Should we just not let them on the bed and furniture and get all hard floors through the house? This solution is bad for Roxy and our pocketbook. Please help if you have any suggestions......I have been in contact with the vet and they say they dont know what is wrong. I have contacted the breeder and she has gotten rid of Paytons sister (even though she was supposed to be a show dog) for the same reason. It turns out every litter from our breeders sire has this issue!!!

We will not get rid of her over this but I am ruining all our bed sheets and such. My new furniture, I have only had it for about a month, is already messed up from it. HELP!!!

I guess this is only a temporary solution until you find out what is wrong with her, but i wouldn't allow her to sleep on the furniture anymore. I'd get a washable dog bed and whenever she falls asleep on the couch/bed move her to her dog bed.

Sorry i'm not much help. I hope you find out what's wrong with her soon.

What about slipping one of those pee pads under her when she naps during the day & having her wear dippers at night? Also a few months ago (either Aug or Sept 06 issue) of the whole dog journal had a huge article about incontinence with several ideas / treatments to try (holistic & otherwise). It was a really good article. If you don’t subscribe to the whole dog journal then go to their website and order the back issue.

btw what do you mean the breeder got rid of her? where did she go?

I was told that the whole litter had a peeing problem and that she found another home for Brandy. I was really thinking I had found a good breeder....guess I was wrong.

I will have to see if I can order that mag, we dont subscribe.

Thanks

I just looked it up its the Sept 06 issue & the title of the article is, "Drips Dried" -"Don’t give up; your dog’s urinary incontinence can be cured". You can order it off their website by clicking on back articles.
