Anybody using multiple monitors?

I was in an office the other day and was chatting w/ a woman who had dual monitors. She was kind enough to demonstrate how she was able to simply drag items from one screen to the next. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I asked her if it was hard to set up, and she said, "...no, I just called the IT department..", and we both laughed. Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of software and hardware you need to set something like this up.

I had that setting once at the office and I found it confusing but many people like it.
Here is a link about how to do it:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u.../monitors.mspx

If you use an Acer computer, you can use the Acer GridVista software. If not, Ultramon seems fine:

Good luck

Dual Monitors

I am new to this board and also an IT manager.

I have dual monitors at work and at home. To me its the greatest thing. Studies have shown that an employees work increases by 25% with dual monitors.

You can do this a few different ways. I recomend the first one

1) You can buy a video card that has two ports on it and just connect the two monitors.
2) you can buy two of the same video cards. This can be a hassel....

A lot of the new computers purchsed today already have two ports.

All laptops that have a vga/dvi/hdmi port can be used with dual monitors.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Thanks for the tips nsantarelli, and welcome to the board. I've borrowed a second monitor and I'm going to try it out this weekend.

TWO Cool

Just to update, I did get the dual monitors up and running, and it is very cool. Right now I am web browsing on one screen, while a slide show of my boxers is playing on the other screen--I love it. Thanks again for the help.
