I currently own my own business working on computers. Im a general tech which means i deal with just about everything under the sun. Your statement about the hardware being inferior is totally false. Macs hardware is among the best out there. (macs are x86 mostly now)
I switched to Mac when they came out with the intel chip. I bought a macbook pro and it has been a great purchase.
Im not a mac fan boy im just a fan of what works. and right now mac is head and shoulders above the rest. just look at the market share changes, i think they speak for them self.
As to new mac users my only advice is dont over think the OS. The OS is so much simpler that windows that it almost makes it confusing.
