Yucky Surgery
I have to have rectal biopsies on december 1st to figure out why i have so much abdominal pain. i have already had a number of other pleasant tests done including a barium enema, but this one is going to be a doozy. To make things even more comfortable the surgeon who does this surgery admits people to my floor and i have a professional relationship with him, and working in the pedi icu i know all the anasthesia residents...wonderful...who gets to see amandas bum!!!! I am getting really nervous because i worry about everything and an anasthesia resident didn't make enough of an epidural for my patient the other day and couldn't figure out what he had done wrong!!!! how scarry is that!!! and im worried that my poor little bum is going to be so sore after...yyyuuuggghhh stitches is all i have to say!!!!!
then we get to decide what to do next depending on what the results show!!! YIPPY!!!!
My orientee at work has offered to take miss luna for the first couple of days so i don't have to worry about keeping her entertained if im in no mood for moving at all. but im worried about luna going anywhere with anyone!!!! she has a 2 1/2 year old yellow lab and we all know how scaredy luna is!!! so we have to do a meet and greet next week!!!!!
Wish me luck guys!!!!!

no because htey are testing to make sure there are nerves present...they are working me up for heirshprungs disease which is a childhood disease (we take care of lots of kids with this at work, which is another reason to be so nervous!!!) but i have been having problems since the age of 5 and none of my drs thought of this until 22 years later!!! my gastrointerologist said that they are just treating me like a 6 year old plus 20 years!!!! he is so funny, keeps shaking me to make sure things don't rattle around in there!!!!!

Sending good luck vibes to you that things go well and they find out what they need to this time so you dont have to do it again. Hugs to miss Luna too I"m sure she will miss you while you're gone, but dont worry she'll be in good hands. Kudos to the great dad you have who still takes care of his baby girl after all these years, that's great and he sounds like a special dad to have.

thanks...i was thinking for the past few weeks...why am i doing this because i feel fine and have been dealing with this for 20 years...but then this past weekend i was doubled over in pain, couldn't move, and thought my intestines were going to explode...so i was like "oh yeah this is why" and as my dad says...once they figure out what is wrong and fix it then i will have a good 50 years of feeling good!!
thanks for all your thoughts and i will keep you updated in the next few days on how im doing

Are you having a colonoscopy done with this? My sister had a colonoscopy with biopsies and she actually did very good. She had no stitches they used cautery to burn them. They were actually very small biopsies. Now my mom had hemmroid surgery and she had A LOT of stitches and was pretty painful for the first week or so. She took A LOT of baths to make things feel better.
Hopefully you are just having the colonoscopy with the biopies so you won't be too bad. Good Luck!!

Just want to wish you the very best and that any residual discomfort you may have is only minor. Don't worry about the co-workers seeing your "bum". I have had numerous colonoscopies, and gynecological and urological surgeries by many I have worked with throughout the years, and my attitude has always been "if you have seen one, you have seen them all". Do keep us posted ~ Cathy

Feeling Fine!!!!!
so i had the surgery yesterday to see if my muscles and nerves in my colon and rectum work properly or at all.
i was so nervous...my dad came with me and we were really early so we stopped in the PICU to see all my night shift friends. then we went up and i was first case (thank god!!!). i was in and out by 8:30am. i woke up with such a yucky tummy...never threw up, but didn't feel well for a long time. i had gotten all the medicaiton possible, plus more to make me not puke...so at 12 i decided that i would rather just go home instead of waiting another 6 hours for more meds. But through the whole thing my butt felt and still feels fine!!!! i can tell something happened, but thats all!!!!
i was so thankful that i was/am not in any pain because could you imagine!!!!
thank you all for your good thoughts!!!!
oh yeah..and luna was a good girl. my dad stayed with me yesterday...she was crated for the longest time during the day 8-12:30...she is never crated during the day...plus she got up at 4:30 with me then went back to sleep with my sister. when we got home my dad took her out to run around a little bit. then she came in and played with him a little then snuggled with her mom!!! such a good girl!!! i was so proud of her! so she got a nice meaty marrow bone last night!!!
