I finally got word!!!!

My friend is holding up okay. The hospital is insisting that the baby stay on life support for at least the next 3 days. This gives them time to do all sorts of blood, brain, etc testing. However, after that time, if they still feel that they should remove the life support, it may take a court action.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend =( That's so sad. The hospital and state is just prolonging their pain. It's not like they tried to harm thier baby, it it not abuse. They jsut want him to go peacefully. I don't beleive the state has a right to decide, they weren't there when the baby was conceived and I don't understand why they think they have a right to be there now. It's not their baby. Sometimes things just happen and nothing anybody can do can fix it and they have no right.

Is our state going to pick up the hospital bill for their baby? Since they insisted he be kept on life support they better damn well pay the hospital bills that are incurring as a result. I don't feel the government ever has any right in a situation like this to tell the parents what to do. Their agonizing over the decision to do what they feel is best for their baby was hard enough the first time, now they are made to suffer even more and prolong it. Sometimes I just don't understand. They didn't ask for this to happen but it did. It makes me angry that others feel they have the right to make tis decision for them.

I truly wish them well and I am so sorry they are having to deal with this. I pray God will give them the strength to endure. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

That is so terrible that family has to suffer through this. I'm really keeping them in my prayers. Thanks for the update.

I can't get this young couple and their story off my mind. A bad auto accident, a baby born so very early and not in good shape is a tragedy. But the State of Utah making decisions for this family is tyranny.

My heart truly aches for them.

Another update. . ..

just received word on how baby boy is doing.

Some of the initial tests came back for baby & mom. This whole mess was caused by the car accident last week. The accident caused the placenta to tear. It also caused bleeding in the baby's brain. Everyone involved has agreed that if life support is continued, baby boy will remain a vegge for his life. Support is expected to be discontinued later tonite once the family is all there. My friend is holing up as well as can be expected.

a side note:

And yes, they do plan on suing the hospital for costs of this mess in not respecting their wishes and they will also sue the other driver of the accident.

Thank you all so much for your support!! I so much appreciate it!!

What a heartwrenching story.

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and can't even begin to wrap my mind around the kind of pain your friend and her family must be going through. They, and their baby boy, will be in our prayers.

I finally saw my frien!

She is holding up about as well as can be expected under these circumstances. She came into work to drop off a bunch of files she had planned on working on over the weekend. It was good to see her and FINALLY give her that much neede hug (for both of us!)

She planned on returning to work on Monday!! I think this was mostly because of our boss (she doesnt have kids & rather dislikes kids, and has absolutely no idea what my friend just went through)! I am so mad right now!! I told my friend she should stay home. This is no different than taking matenity leave. She's such a work-a-holic tho. I hope I can convince her to stay home and heal. But the boss lady just said "see you monday" !!!!

Thanks for all the support!!

Maybe your friend feels that going back to work will help keep her mind off of her son. But in reality she just gave birth and needs time to recover and rest. Maybe she will change her mind and take some time off. To hell with the boss lady.

THANKS FOR ALL THE NOTES!!

I hope she does just stay home. I just got done yelling at the boss lady because my friend does need to stay home & recover physically. Boss lady doubled back saying o- she can take all the time she needs. boss lady is just a *&#%! !!!

It does sound like they are on the road to recovering emotionally & physically. Both her and her hubby are completely exhausted. The hospital did take pictures for them, they also made molds of the baby's hands and feet. They had enough time to have him baptized.

They named him Quincy Stephen. Born March 29 Died March 30 in in the arms of his parents.
