Mandy,
I know how you must be feeling. Anytime anyone mentions the "C" word all kinds of thoughts go through your head. Think positively and we will all pray and send good boxerworld vibes that it is just a lump and nothing else. The power of prayer is amazing.

I am a CT tech. & quite often do I see people with a lump on their neck. Most of the time it's just an enlarged lymph node. Other times it can by lymphoma, a cyst, or other tumor. If it does look suspicious on the scan the surgeon can do a biopsy or aspiration and send it to pathology to determine if it's malignant or benign. They can also remove it regardless.
I think that Dr. is just trying to scare you by being a jackass! There was no reason for him to tell you you're lucky you're not dead! As if you aren't already scared enough...
Have they done any other labwork? Are you having any other symptoms? They should put you on antibiotics to see if that will help clear it up also.
If you have any other Q's regarding the CT feel free to ask or PM me & good luck with everything.

Mandy, try not to jump the gun. I went to a surgeon & he swore I had breast cancer just by looking a the mammogram. He must have told me 5 times it was cancer. Long story short, it was a cyst. Those few days, seemed forever. They never know for sure until it is removed. Some doctors are toooooo full of themselves & some are so wonderful. Needless to say, I went to a new doctor after the surgery for my follow-ups.
I hope all is ok. Sissy

Mandy..
Positive thoughts comng your way that it is nothing serious.
IMO, I think you should find a new doctor. Who is more caring than to say you should be thankful your not dead.
Take care of yourself.

Mandy,
So sorry you have to go through this and on top of that was an insensitive A**H*** that doc was. Dealt with quite a few myself lately.
I have had my share of miss-diagnosis's and the waiting is the worse.
Sending prayers and positive vibes that everything will be fine.
Please try not to worry.
(although I know you will anyway)

I know that this is surely a scarey time. The doctor may need to be reported. I will keep you in my prayers. I pray that everything will be ok.

I really appreciate everyone's kind words.
I have the CT scan tomorrow morning.
I am feeling good but kind of worried because I feel a lump in my gland on the left side in addition to the bump on the left. I hope it is just because I am sick with a cough.
I am still able to workout and stuff which is a good sign I guess.
Does anyone else think a month to get into the surgeon for a consult is ridiculous?n I am on a waiting list but they said it's unlikely anyone will cancel so I will have to wait until March 11.

Ya know a few months ago my cousin went thru sort of the same thing. Swollen glands in her neck, armpits and groin. Turns out she was exposed to mono but never got sick.

I just got back from the CT scan. I am more worried now. I found three swollen nodes on my neck in addition to the lump.
The lady doing the scan felt them. She said it will take a couple days for the results to come back but they will call soon if something needs to be addressed. She got the number for my surgeon and said they could probably get me in sooner if the radiologist sees a need to. I hope they don't call soon and say I need to go in.
She asked me if the doctor ran any other tests and he didn't and now I wonder why. I had mono before and I had swollen glands on the back of my head. I thought if you get mono you don't get it again though... not sure.
She gave me copies of the CT scan in case I need to get in...which worries me. I kind of feel like she thinks I will be called in soon...so soon that I need to have copies with me. I looked at them and I see lots of circles but that mean nothing to me...just more worrying.
