God Jaimie your family has really taken a beating lately. You are all in my heart and prayers. Try to take it easy and keep that bun in the oven as long as you can. Best of luck to Melissa. ((hugs))

Well, Melissa will be having surgery on Friday May 16. They needed time to do a few tests, get cleared for surgery and have her donate a unit of blood for during the surgery. She is in good spirits and seems to be doing ok. They will be doing 2 surgeries one to remove the largest part of the tumor to decrease the swelling in her brain and make it move back into the right place. The second to clean the tumor off her facial nerve and whatever area they couldn't get to the first time. The 2 surgeries will be about 6 hours each and 3-4 months apart. If she does good through the first one she probably will fdo ok through the second. Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going. Thanks for your prayers.

Good luck to you and all your family.
Being positive is the best thing you can do for her as well as your self. I know what your going through I have dealt with this twice, first with my best friend (she was 17 at the time)who had just given birth and was handed a death sentence along with her new baby girl. She had a very severe form of Hodgkins that they told her was uncureable, they sent her home to spend her last days with her newborn child. She was then taken to a great hospital in Boston and she was actually given a lethal dose of Chemo, which saved her life. She has been in remission for the past 6 years and is loving life. My uncle also suffered from a rare brain tumor and is only the 18th person "be cured" from this type of cancer. He has now been "cancer free" for 2 years. It's a long hard battle but it can be won.
They throw out so many scary words and procedures it'll make your head spin, but you need to be strong for her and make her know SHE WILL BEAT IT!!! Don't let her lose that attitude, and make sure you keep it yourself too.
We'll keep our fingers and paws crossed for you. Please keep us updated on her and your progress, and if you need some advice from someone with a little experiance and a good ear feel free to pm me anytime. and good luck with the little one..

Well, Melissa was supposed to have surgery on Friday. That has now been cancelled. They are going for ANOTHER opinion. In Cincinnati, Ohio with another specialist. That appointment is for next Wednesday. All this waiting I am worried that she will have a crisis and they said she could go into a coma and never wake up. Anyway, I will let you all know if anything more happens. Thanks for all the prayers.

Ok, an update on Melissa, she went to the doctor (yep another one) and then decided to go back to the original hospital and she is now set for surgery on Tuesday. I will let you know how things go, she had a test on her facial nerves today. I am glad they FINALLY decided on a doctor to get this done. The one doctor (the one that is doing the surgery) said it is Life threatening and should be done ASAP. I will update you on Tuesday when she (hopefully) has the surgery.
