Unhappy Feeling sad for my friend

My friend has just rung me to say that she had her dog, Rag, put to sleep this morning. She was crying on the phone and so upset.

Rag was a mongrel that she got from rescue when he was 6 months old. Soon after she got him he had a tumour and had one rear leg taken off. Anyway, we was 16 and arthritis had set in his spine and tail making him unable to balance. This really only happened last week so he hasn't suffered for long.

Last Monday she took him to an acupuncturist who helped alot and on Tuesday he was able to walk about a bit.

Then yesterday they decided to take the kids off school and they went to the seaside. Rag sat on a rug on the beach and was really interested in what was going on. He ate sausages, and ice cream and my friend said they had a wonderful day.

But last night he woke crying at 3am and then again at 6am. They rang the vet but he wouldn't come out and they didn't want to take Rag to the vet office so they sat cradling him 'til 9am and then the vet came.

I am so so glad that they had their day at the beach - what a wonderful last memory of a good and true friend.

Awww That is so sad. They made a beautiful lasting memory of him on his last day. It seems as he was very loved and part of a great family. My prayers and condolences are with them today.

Well my friends decided the best way to get over their loss and to fill an empty void in their house would be to get a puppy. So they have just got an Airdale pup who is 11 wks and called Pip.

They will never forget Rag but they are the sort of people who NEED to have a dog in the house.
