Hubs is doing better, he's getting more used to seeing Afton like this and is good at finding even the slightest improvement.
Elizabeth, thanks SOOOO much for that story. My hubby will be heartened to hear it I'm sure. Our big concern with Afton is keeping her spirits up when she realizes what she's in for.
Thanks again, guys.

Wendy,
I'm so glad to here that Afton is improving.. Miracles do happen everyday.. If you would allow us to we would love to send her cards in the hospital.. Maybe that would help keep her spirits up.. Our thoughts and prayers are still with you everyday..

Slowly Improving
Afton is off the respirator! All of her injuries will heal, but her spirit is flagging badly. She lays in her bed and cries, which her nurse said is typical, but it still hurts to think of what must be going through her head. She's still in ICU and we have very limited visiting times, so she's alone and awake most of the day. We're hoping that soon she gets moved to the next step, Surgical Step-Down. The visiting hours are better and she'll be doing more than just laying in the bed. Then she comes home. I hope we can work that out. We don't yet know what kind of care she'll need at home, and we both work.
Keep sending the prayers our way, we're going to need them. Thanks for all of your support.

Great news!!! Does she have a favorite stuffed toy? Or what if you found her a stuffed boxer and gave it to her as a surprise? Might help lift her spirits! Keep us posted!!!!
