My poor Dad...

It's just been one issue after another for him in the last two years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a few years ago and it progressed to the point he had a deep brain stimulator implanted to help stop the shaking (Dec 2010). It did what it was supposed to, but really threw his balance off. He spent the next six months taking tumbles - bruised and battered. He was also found to be diabetic, so he's now on oral meds for that. As part of his physical therapy, it was discovered that he's going to need a hip replacement soon and he has some nasty arthritis in his spine (cortizone injections started two weeks ago). And if all of that wasn't enough, he's in the hospital now with a possible heart attack. Cardiac catheterization and then stent placement are next up.
This is a man who was never sick a day in his life. I just feel so bad for him. He can't seem to catch a break even for a few months...He could use some good thoughts this week (and so could my Mom).

...skipping stents altogether and going straight to a triple bypass. He needs to transfer to a different hospital, so surgery will probably be Wednesday.

So sorry to hear about your dads health issues. Sending a ton of healing vibes to him for a quick recovery from surgery. Lots of strength being sent to your mom (and you as well). Caregivers are the unsung heros.

I hope his surgery goes uneventfully. I'll send healing thoughts and vibes to him and your mom.

Thanks, everyone. They are transferring him sometime today. He'll have a full day of tests tomorrow, then the surgery on Thursday.
When I called my Mom last night, she answered the phone 'county morgue'. I told her that wasn't funny. She's holding up OK, just going through the prepare for the worst and hope for the best kind of preparation. At least I know where I get that from now.
One more day to worry...

Best wishes to your Dad and Mom, hope all goes well. It's incredible what they can do today. I'm sure he is in very good hands.

(((healing vibes)))

Surgery has been delayed until tomorrow. There was some question about kidney function, which lead to an ultrasound and a possible mass on his bladder. We're not even going to think about worrying about what that could mean until he gets past the heart issue. As long as tomorrow's blood check shows the kidneys have remained stable, we're on for 9 am.

This had been the longest week already...
