More Swine Flu In Our House
Earlier this summer, my oldest son caught H1N1. He got over the flu, but got the post viral pneumonia. He developed serious complications from the pneumonia, and had to have two lung surgeries and was in the hospital a while. He came home from the hospital on a PICC line for a month. This was in August. Just yesterday, he was diagnosed with pleurisy, another complication of the H1N1/pneumonia fiasco.
Anyway, now my youngest has just been diagnosed with H1N1 and I am nervous and upset. I know it is silly, that he probably won't have the complications his brother had. But my two youngest boys have pretty bad asthma, so anything that could affect their lungs always scares me. We haven't been able to find any vaccine available, and H1N1 is hitting our school system pretty hard right now. I guess it is a waiting game to see how long it is until the other one gets it too.
Any positive vibes/thoughts/prayers would surely be appreciated!
Thanks,
Angela

So sorry to hear this I remember you talking about your son's complications earlier in the season, this is just the last thing you need!
I ended up getting over the flu I had at that time in about 2 weeks time. I finally got a tip from the nurses at the Minute Clinic to take Mucinex, and I'm sure that's what helped me overcome it.
Good luck, I hope he gets over it quickly!

I also remember when your son was very sick! I can see why you would be worried, having just gone through something like that with one child and now another is sick. It is not silly, It is being a worried mother. I will send TONS of ~healthy~ healing~ and ~get well~ vibes!

Sending lots of positive vibes for your baby. My great granddaughter had H1N1 a few weeks ago. She is 2 yrs old. She is fine now but was pretty sick.

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. It is certainly understandable why you would be frightened about your son's condition, but hopefully he will recover quickly with no complications.

The H1N1 is going around the schools here as well. My daughter just came down with it the end of last week and over the weekend. I heard in one grade here about 75% of the kids were out today and my daughter said there were only 5 kids in her class today as well. So far she seems to be ok.. thank goodness. I feel you with the nerves because she typically develops pneumonia after a bad case of the flu. Also, my youest daughter hasn't showed any symptoms but I too feel like i'm just waiting for it and jumping at any possible sign. Anyways, good luck with your boys and they'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

My little one got over it just fine with Tamiflu. The oldest has been back in the hospital, they think he is now having issues with scar tissue in his pleura, a result of the past trauma and infection. Poor kid can't breathe without feeling like a knife is cutting him in the chest.
