Thankyou for your replies and thoughts. Mum is waiting to have 6 days of radiotherapy, she is in hospital but her pain is a little worse. It is so awful to see her there, she looks so well but is very uncomfortable. We have been there every day (work permitting) since christmas eve, after the radiotherapy she will be moved to our local hospital to recover from the radiotherapy. She still has an unknown primary but she isn't fully aware that she probably won't be able to walk again or go home to her flat. We don't know whats going to happen...my sister is completely devastated as I am but she is struggling with the diagnosis. I look at mum and I can't beleive it, she is 69. The unknown primary is the worst as they have told us they won't scan her again to look for it.

Update...
I havn't been here for so long..since I last posted they have discovered another large soft tissue mass in her pelvis..another in her back..these are both secondaries..mum has been walking with a tall zimmer frame up and down the corridor daily to try to strengthen her legs but since this latest news she has become very depressed and see's no point in trying to walk when there are all the other underlying problems..she is totally distraught.
My sister and I are heartbroken..it is terrible to see mum in pain, so destroyed and scared, she looks so well..all we can do is be there for her..on sunday we are having a mothers day celebration at the hospital...as we are all mothers we thought we'd all spend the day together.
