My 4yr old Boxer literally dropped dead!
I'm in total shock. My sweet angel Caesar died suddenly a few days ago and I just can't understand how a healthy pup without any symptoms can just collapse and die within seconds. I knew boxers had health issues with their heart but at the yearly checkups the vets said his heart sounded good. I wasn't aware that the holter monitor is the only device that can detect heart irregularities. Howcome vets don't inform you about this cardiomayopathy? Especially if 50% of boxers has this heart problem. (According to resources on the internet) I'm just stunned and confused. He would've been 4 on the 22nd May. It's just so sad that he had to go so early in his life. I wish I could've done something instead I just watched and pet him thinking he'd be alright and then he passed away.
Has anyone out there experienced this terrrible heart problem w/their boxer?

I'm very sorry to hear about your baby. I'm always afraid something like that will happen to one of mine. You just never know.

I am so sorry you lost your baby so early in life. Unfortunately, it seems we learn about some types of illnesses only after being affected by them. I suspect the average vet may not be familiar with which breeds suffer most from what types of health risks. I hope you find some comfort here on BW, as I know many others have been through what you have.

I'm so sorry you lost your baby. Friends of ours had the same happen with their boy Floyd. He was only two - was out for a walk and just collapsed. There was also no sign of any problem before hand.
Our vet gives a good listen at every appointment, but has never recommeded doing a full holter test.
