Exclamation My older sister is a pathological liar.

Hello everyone at Boxerworld. I need some advice. I am the middle sister of three girls. My little sister, Ashley, recently came over to my house and told me a secret that my older sister, Kim, told her never to tell me. A little history , Kim has lied to me about small things ever since I can remember. She makes up stories and wants everyone to believe that her life is more interesting than it actually is. I've always overlooked her petty lies and just accepted the fact that she has some mental issues. By the way my husband (Rocky) and Ashley both know that she lies also. To the point, Ashley told me that Kim told her that about four years ago( my husband and I have been married almost 5 years now ) my husband cheated on me and got a little drunk one night and told Kim about it who kept it a secret from everyone. Ashley asked her if I knew about this and she says " Oh yeah she found about it and she forgave Rocky and they are ok with the whole issue !!!!!!"
Oh My Goodness- to make up such a lie- to tell my younger sister - to say that I knew about it - takes one sick person and to make matters worse she is my blood sister. What should I do? Please help !!

I say confront her about it. Then maybe knock her on her a$$ for saying that about your husband. I have no use for liars.

That is completely awful. I am the youngest child in my family and am quite close with my older sister and brother.
I know that if one of them said that about me and my husband you bet your A$$ I would be right their confronting them about it, and asking why they would say such lies.

That is just wrong and very disrespectful to both you and your husband.

I hope it works out well for you and as long as you and your husband know the truth that is all you need to go on.

Good Luck!

I would definately confront her about it and tell her you no longer wish to have any contact with her until she stops lying and gets help. She sounds like she is in desperate need of professional counceling. I would try to get my other sisters on board with me to drive home how serious of an issue this is. Good luck.

I wouldn’t bother confronting her. People like that never change. It’s heartbreaking but the best thing you can do is keep her at a distance and know that you cannot trust her. All the talking in the world won’t change a person. And a fight just reduces you to her level and produces drama which she obviously loves. It will just fuel her fire. Focus on the good in family and make less room for the bad.

Agree. Although it is hard because it is your sister, she is not someone you want to surround yourself with. Now having said that, life is too short for regrets, so if you feel the need to confront her, so be it!

Good luck!
