Convince my DH

Please advise!

My DH and I have long talked about getting a boxer (we are bouncy and spazzy ourselves, and love how they communicate, over all other dogs).

I finally have the time to raise a puppy--I will be working at home until september.

Now my DH has cold feet.
The main worry for my DH is that he will not have "enough of your attention."
But we will spend hours watching other people's boxers on You-Tube, and bonding over that.

What can I say to him?

I guess you can not 'make' anyone do something they are not ready for (Or trust me Darby would have a brother right now )... Are you thinking of a rescue or breeder? Maybe you could go spend sometime with a boxer needing a forever home and see if it 'feels' right. I am not really sure what to tell ya. I wish you the best of luck (They are the best dog to get )

Both breeders and rescues.
If there were a sweet boxer who we knew likes cats, that would be great.
A puppy we could socialize to the cats.

I know he loves dogs, and "definitely we will have a dog someday."
It is me who would have to do the main work, no matter
when, because I am not a 9 to 5-er.

But if we wait for years (!), I may never have the chance to spend six months
socializing a pup basically 24/7.

Know how you feel...It took DH and I about a yr to make the decision. Not because of time, cause we've got a whole lot of that! But because DH took the passing of his first dog (rottweiller, Toro) extremely hard and vowed never to put himself through that pain again. He finally agreed to get the dog, only on the condition that it was a boxer! Boxers need alot of attention, training and human companionship. They have alot of energy! But, I agree they are the best! You mentioned you're 'bouncy' and 'spazzy', then I think this breed would suit you just right!! Good luck and keep us posted!

Well I was totally against a puppy, just didn't think I had enough time to devote raising, training ect....my 19 year old was soo wanting a boxer puppy...I kept saying no! Then I decided that I better get involved when my son said he was going to wire money ( half the amount boxer puppies go for here) to this man in North Carolina and he was going to fly a puppy into Logan airport for us to pick up! I was thinking umh...I was afraid this was a backyard breeder and it was then that I knew I had no choice but to research a breeder and get a puppy that I could see...thats when we found Laila and I am probably the caziest boxer lover now, I couldn't imagine not having her...she is the best!! Good luck ..Barbara

For many years my DH was against a second boxer. I finally talked him into it. Now that we have Sydney he would not give her up for the world. Good Luck!!
