Question Puppy toys....

Hello BW!

I went out and bought a rope toy with a huge tennis ball at the end for my new puppy, Coal. But, I was just told that tennis balls are not good for boxers, and that I should return it and by a kong rope toy.
Why are tennis balls bad? Is a kong better?

Regular-size tennis balls can pose a choking threat for some Boxers, and tennis ball pieces can cause an obstruction. So, don't buy a regular-size tennis ball if you can't see it when the dog has it in his mouth, and take away any size tennis ball if the dog breaks pieces off of it.

Thank you for the information Julie!

I am going to the petstore tonight to return the tennis ball toy and buy a kong. I think that it may be safer for him to play with. Any other suggestions for toys?

Anything that squeaks. And if Annie is any indication, anything from the cat toy department is as good as any toy from the dog toy department. My poor cat has no toys left.

Also, any thing that quacks, moos, oinks, etc. Annie has a duck toy that quacks. Needless to say, she "quacks" back in her own boxer kind of way. The "talking" toys are hard to find though.

BTW, coal is beautiful. And DARK! Congrats.

Boda Ropes are great! I also got some stuffed animals!!

Kongs are life savers! Do a search here under kong and you will find tons of info on them!

Congrats on Coal!

Good Luck.

I just bought a kong and a gumabone for Victor. I have a booda bone also. Victor also has a stuffed dog in his crate, it has the scents of his mother and litter mates on it. It will stay in his crate for him to sleep with until he gets bigger.
