Yeah, you know, everyone on here as made some really good points. I think I'm leaning towards the road trip. Even though I'm a bigger fan of flying, I think the puppy will be too big to fit under the seat in front of me, and I don't want to put him in the cargo area. So, a road trip sounds great. And besides, who doesn't want to see Kansas??!! The sunsets are awesome!

I would say by car. Be sure to bring a crate and leash so on your stops you can walk your new baby. You might even want to take a small blanket with you and rub it on the puppies or mama before ya leave and put it in the crate with you new baby for the trip home so she/he has their scent. The puppy should do just fine. My neice and her husband did traveling nursing all over with 2 boxers, puppies, and they did great. Where in Missouri are you getting your baby? I am from Missouri. Just curious. Good luck and have fun! Have a safe and wonderful trip. If you decide to drive.

Thanks, Abby Angel. I've definitely made the decision to drive. I think the advice on here was spot on. I'm sure it will be a great bonding experience.

Thanks, also, for the advice about the blanket. I will definitely get a blanket with the mom's scent on it. It sounds like a good way to keep the puppy calm and to deal with any separation anxiety.

I'm getting the boxer from a breeder who is located on the east side of Missouri. (The BW breeder solicitation rules are broad, so I'm trying to respect them by not saying the actual city or name of the boxer club.) She was recommended by the local boxer club. I am absolutely certain that she is very reputable, and I thank the club for recommending her.

Thank you for your well wishes. I'm definitely looking forward to the road trip and to sharing my home with the new puppy. Now, I just need a name!

You might want to ask the breeder to get your puppy used to the leash so that the pup doesn't freak out on you when you put the leash on. You don't want a bucking bronco at the end of the leash when you are trying to get them to go potty. It might be a good idea to stop beside the road and not in a rest area. You really want to keep your pup away from areas where dogs hang out until he/she has had all their vaccinations.

Good luck!

And when you do stop, check for ticks. They are bad this year. A few weekends ago, we took at trip, and in one 2 minute stop, I picked off two ticks. Slick little suckers!
