Traveling
Hi everyone!
We have a 10 wk old boxer who joined our family about 3 wks ago. We recently learned that we must go out of town for several days (3 days, 2 nights) in about 2 wks. I feel really badly about leaving her behind, but we really don't have an option not to take this trip and we didn't know about it when we got her. We're trying to decide what would be best for Maggy. Should we try to take her with us knowing she'll spend some time in her crate while we're at our appointments (3-4 hours)? Leave her with my sister who has a 5 yr old lab? OR take her to a kennel?
What would you do?
Thanks everyone!

I (personally) wouldn't send her to a kennel when she's that young. But, I tend to worry a lot.
If she does well with your sister's lab and her routine could stay pretty much the same....I'd opt for that. Another, albiet pricier, option would be to have a pet-sitter/house-sitter stay with her while you're away. Or you could bring her along with you, is she good in her crate normally?

I probably wouldn't put her in a Kennel either considering she's so young. If she's okay in the crate then I'd take her with you if not, your sister's place is probably the go.

I am not one that worries and I definitely would not board her anywhere at that age (and most places probably wouldn't take her anyway). Personally, I'd go with your sister's place as long as your sister is a trustworthy person.

I would exclude the kennel too. Would it be a problem to take Maggy with you? 3 hours in a crate is not the end of the world. If she barks or is not used to crate, it would be better to leave her with your sister than in a hotel room...

I don't think it would be a big problem to take her, other than the 6 hour drive and the issues with having a puppy in a hotel room! I'm leaning that way as she hasn't met my sister's dog and I agree, too young for boarding.
Thanks everyone!

We always go to New Hampshire, about 4hr trip. We have 2 16 month pups, Sonny(our boxer), Sammy(our puggle). Sammy went with us, at the time we hadnt adopted Sonny yet. It was a great trip! We were so happy to have him with us, plan on taking them both this year.
