i understand the frustration you are going through, but don't give up and most of all don't make a rush decision when it comes to your new companion. you might want to do a search for a "boxer breeder" in your area. there was a website i had found that listed them according to state. i assume that would help you out.
also, you can try getting a list of reputable boxer breeders from a boxer club such as the "American Boxer Club" or "Midwest Boxer Club."
if you do a search on the internet, they should provide you with their website addresses. lots of clubs tend to have referral people who can steer you in the right direction. i notice that you are located in the midwest area. there is a dog show going on in chicago this weekend and it is being held at the mccormack place in chicago. it will be held this upcoming weekend, february 26th and 27th. it will be a great place to get information on the breed as well as getting to meet with reputable breeders, handlers, and dog lovers in general. look on the IKC (International Kennel Club) website for more info.
hope this helps you out.

Just to chime in on the "whole" expense of a puppy, thanks to my Quicken program I can tell you we spent $2700 on Porter in the first year. Porter was $900, pet quality, flashy fawn male in WA state. But the crate, vet visits, neuter, two series of obedience classes, toys, beds, leashes, etc... bring the total up a bit Also, heads up, most breeders that I contacted had a wait list of at least 6 months. I realize that you want to acquire your pup quickly to coincide with your time off, but please be prepared that a reputable breeder usually comes with a wait for their pups. Good luck to you.
